hi , sorry this isn't v.w related, but i know allot of people here
have the  Mercedes Benzes 5cylinders diesels..

i am putting either the (used)four or 5 cylinder  MB motor in my boat,
(gas to diesel conversion which will be an adventure :o)  )
(would put a rabbit motor in but don't think I could get
the speed(20ish knots) i want from it  :o(  )
and im wondering if anyone could tell me
some general pros n cons of the motors..
im leaning toward the 5cylinder from the 300? i think..
as i know they were fairly bullet proof.
but there's the four cylinder also..and I know nothing bout it.

things to look for?
it will be compression tested...
what were these motors weaknesses?
if any.
