I have a 98 Jetta. At 100K miles and 6 years old they replaced the DS Rear
regulator for free.

1 year, and 12K mile later (this morning) I called VW direct again.
This time the DS front regulator has the outer jacket of the cable broken,
causing the cable to have a lot of free play, which makes the window jump and
grind when closing it.
The PS Rear don't do anything at all.

VW said "Were sorry your having problems, but we feel there comes a time when
the customer has to take financial responsibility in there own repairs, and
again were sorry, but you will have to take it to the dealer and have it
repaired without our assistance."

I agree with them to a point, but why has 3 of 4 regulators going bad in this
time frame? Its bad engineering.
The only reason the DS front is not bad is nobody ever sits there!

Time to start calling junk yards, the 98 a3's should be starting to show up.
