  I've seated a lot of rings and never had results like you had.  Usually
several steps of increased power with associated increase or decrease
in smoke.  (Depends on whether the head gasket was correct or not).  ;-)
  Yours sounds more like something in an injector that flushed through,
along with seating of the rings.  Unless you just recently did a lot of
accel/decel and forced a bit of a quicker seating on them.  Then you
might notice such a big change "over night."  :)
