The light on the dash has almost nothing to do with the state of the glow plugs.  They remain on for many seconds (10-20) after
the dash light goes out.  Don't believe it, leave the key in the glow position after the LED goes out and wait a bit and you'll
soon hear the relay click off and see your dome light brighten.  Then, as soon as you hit the starter, the glow plug relay will
click on again (no LED visible):
