My '85 Jetta TD W/ A/C uses vacuum A/C controls, but
does not have a vacuum reservoir. I think I've heard
in the past that the brake booster is so big on the
diesels that is holds enough vacuum, so the reservoir
is not needed. I know I do have power assist on the
brakes for a few applications if I turn the engine
off, such as sitting on a slight hill in traffic.
Also, the A/C blend doors go haywire when this vacuum
eventually bleeds off if I reapply the brakes a few
times.
