JUMP ON IT JUMP ON IT JUMP ON IT!!!!!
Did I make my self clear?
These are really rare cars and perform REALLY well, you can smoke the tires
off the line even with the automatic! The bodies last a very long time even
with neglect, the motors are good if they made it this long (the lemons are
mostly gone), the auto trans is a sore spot but can be rebuilt, you can play
with the pump to get rid of the shaking it is just different from the VW
style of pump-they last much longer cause they are lubricated with engine
oil not fuel. Of course the heating system is a joke and don't even think
about having reliable a/c but they drive nicely and perform well and get
good fuel economy for a luxury car (around 40mpg or 7l/100km for typical
communting). Electrical parts are expensive but buy good quality and you
will only change it once every decade, these cars were well built from the
start and will last if you maintain them that way.
I was on a diesel Mercedes list for awhile (have a 300SD with 800,000kms and
two 240D projects), the 190 2.5 TD was considered the best of the later
diesels Mercedes made and got rave comments from all of its owners,
especially in performance, it was really one of the first fast diesels to
come along.
