When I started testing diesel fuel , many years ago .  I found that big or any
corporation is willing to tell lies when it improves the bottom line .

Some well known examples :   Tobacco ------ Oil ----- (lead)  ---- Food ---- Airline stats
So when you see the claims made for synthetic oils ---- use caution.

When someone flogging Syn oil states that it is good because it is used in jet
fighters. --- is your bell ringing ?  mine is. Out and out spin. At the same time
my information is that Syn is not used in Aircraft engines.--- (Piston).

And when they say that the Patent office say that they have the worlds best oil ?
--------- In writing that statement would be Priceless.

In my many years of dealing with the patent office. I got the impression it is 
never done.

Patent act is a commercial protection  system ---that has nothing to do with
the workings of an invention ---- but is intended to give an inventor protection for
a set time.  All the inventor has to prove that the Idea was not patented before and
pay some money ( cash cow )   Lots of non working patents are issued.  Like
Permanent magnet Gensets. Perpetual Mobile  stuff. Tapping the endless power of
gravity and magnetism.

And by the way a patent does not grant anyone permission to sell a gizmo --
that is a different department.

For the record :  HAGAR loves synthetic oils . but in certain applications ---not
everywhere.

For the record :  HAGAR said ---the advertised claims are old style American
snakeoil salesmanship.

If the advertising is is a lie ---what about the quality of the oil ?.      

One interesting piece of information I found out about lately --- Oils are not 
filtered before shipping.(some exceptions)   Blew my socks off.  It is screened to take any lumps
out.   So big users have to filter before using.

I had a lot of fun reading Gary Orlandos thread about statistics on oil.
