Hello,
Of late my Jetta 1.6 NA has gotten hard to start taking up to 3 times to
get running. When it runs it runs rough with a light white smoke to
the exhaust. It has just a bit of oil in the coolant.

Jeff Rakus --- There is a lot about this in the archives. ---- my gut feeling is that
you better pull the head and have a good look around.

Try the water and dish soap test ---- that will tell if cumbustion get in to cooling system.
White smoke sounds like Glycol. Running it on clean water would tell you for sure.

Run it for a couple of minutes and put a few drops on a printer paper and send me a copy.
Save in your file for next time --- that gives you a sample of what coolant in oil looks like.

Remember white "smoke" could be fuel as well.

Sorry but ---- may the team be with you.

Hagar.
