[Vwdiesel] Used Pistons/Head

Camshaft -- broken -- ( in three pieces )   Would the fella that had the broken shaft please step forward ????.

Loren touched on the broken camshaft issue.    Would  Ferguson or Loren or 
any other knowledgeable person explain what is involved with  "the banana effect"
Ever since the guy with the troubles on a highway ---- then finding the shaft in 3 pieces.
 I have been looking for an explanation.   Sounds like a friend of mine may be right,
pulling a head down may bend the shaft.

Lineboring of bearings would be standard procedure , when first installed. So does
bending of head ---break the shaft ?.
The reason I have troubles with it is this ---- if head is flat and block is flat  -- why would bolting
it down do anything ?

PS:  I kind of chuckle ---- first clean the head in dishwasher --- then bake it in the
selfcleaning Maytag oven.    Those ovens get HOT and are great for baking cadmium plated
parts.Not to forget welding rods.
