He showed me the pistons. Large melted lumps
of metal. It left an impression on me.
Andrew
James Hansen posted a thing about racing diesel pickups ----- and it showed
the enormous power of diesels when they are over-fueled.
The first time I drove Bunny Bondo ---that was my feeling --if I took that up
jackass mountain at full pedal ---it would have a melt down.
Some of us know the power of the little 1.5L when it starts to run away on
lube oil from the sump. Val Christian knows and Sandy Cameron ? or James Hansen ?.
Mine did not have the brakes to stop it so I had one choice ---NEUTRAL.
Yes as soon as I got her stopped --I tossed the key out the window. Then I sat and waited to
see the rods and pistons fly all over the place. She wound up and sounded like a turbine
and was it SMOOOOOTH or what. And yes the smoke ----LOL -----no way to ignore that.
Still no mosquitoes in this area. Me going near that engine and put a sock in the intake ?
NO WAY --- I am chicken. 10 000 or 20 000 RPM ? Then just as the Trucker with his
fire extinguisher showed up ---it died.
Yes a 1.5L can be a power house.
Later was there any damage to engine ? not that I could find. I wound up driving it till
I got the 1982 Rabbit. By routing the the line from VC to the rear bumper.
So Andrew yes it pays to be cautious. -------and by running LEAN --no damage will ever
take place. The Greens will thank you and you will have more money for
beer.
So starting from Lean pays ---- say I.
Hagar.
