The thing that may turn into a project is the 2.0L I5 Audi diesel
in the corner of the garage. With a turbo, that would be splendid
in something like an Audi 4000 Quattro. I came up with it when I had
an '86 5000 CS Turbo Quattro, with the idea that when the gas engine gave
up I'd swap in the diesel. Shesh. That car had 200,000 miles on it when
I sold it and it was still running fine even though I'd been running twice
the factory bost levels. It's always a candidate for my '95 Audi S6,
although even running 24 PSI boost it will probably last a loong time.
I have an 83 5000TD. The paint job's been almost ready to do for almost
two years now. I REALLY do need to get that done, along with a LOT
of other things. :P It's a nice engnie but good luck wearing out the gas
5 cylinder engines! I tore into my 4kQ at about 140K and only replaced
the rod bearings from a little pitting aparently from poor oil maintenence.
The rings still spec'd like new!
After paint then I'll rebuild the 5K. Rebore, new pistons, Total Seal
rings, Raceware, 3 " exhaust and an intercooler. As soon as you step
on the throttle you're pushing at least 4 psi and it stays at that or
above until you let almost clear off.

I got mine from www.rb.com Wife got it for me for Christmas. :)
Have any pics of that IHI setup? I've thought of using one of those when
I EVENTUALLY do the Rabbit turbo instead of a Garrett or KKK. Looks
like a little smaller turbo for more boost earlier.
