[Vwdiesel] Throw away those gears... despite friction fears

Friction,friction friction ..its ringing in my ears..but I still have my doubts...If friction on engine was the deciding factor then why can you get extreme runaway?
Its wind drag that is the key limiting factor... remember diesels are able to adjust their mixture from say petrol ratios right up  [down?] to100 to 1 or more [less?]
