[Vwdiesel] Vanagon tossed rod

Well I took the oil pan off of my recently acquired '83 diesel vanagon.  It 
came with a rod poking out the side of the engine.  I have been extremely busy 
with work, but curiosity got the best of me.  It seems the cap came loose from 
the big end.  The crank actually doesn't look bad.  The van only has 83,000 
miles, and when removing the pan I was amazed at the overall unmolested nature 
of the engine.  All the right bolts with all the right washers in all the 
right places.  Shoot, none of the bolts even had any dimples from wrenches.  It 
gave every impression of never being removed.  That doesn't speak very well of 
Volkswagen.  Rod cap coming loose at 83,000?  Quite a shame.
