[Vwdiesel] timing set...bogs down and stalls after a few seconds

yeah, like you said in the other post, having the cold
start knob out can mess up the timing. don't know how
many times i've gone to all the trouble to set
everything just so and then found out that i had left
that knob out!!!
but having it stall out and cranking like that to
restart it sounds like the pump is sucking air
somehow. i've had the timing horribly wrong and never
had symptoms like that. i would check for air in the
fuel as the first and most likely thing.
