  Don't know about that really.  I'm a major fan but cost per trouble free 
mile, some Mercedes do quite well.  Nissan then Toyota probably top 
VW.  They're just not as plentiful nor common, a little heavier and tougher 
than dirt.  NEVER heard of them blowing gaskets and warping heads.  
Will seriously consider a Nissan diesel for my daughter's 37 Chevy 
when we get to that point.  Afraid to say I wouldn't think of a VW
diesel.  Might give the 5 cyl Audi TDI a thought or two but not as 
seriously as the Nissan.
