[Vwdiesel] jet-a powered aircraft

I have seen a radial air-cooled aircraft Diesel engine. Up in the Ford
Foundation Museum up in Detroit. Made by Packard in the '30s or '40s.
I don't know much about it, but I guess there was probably some reason
the A-65 Continental made it on the front of however many Piper J-3s
instead of a Diesel. People have been trying to get them off the ground
for years. Engines are fine. Financial and regulatory issues aren't.
Very complicated to get certificatoin (STC) for them from the FAA. We
had intentions of building an airplane at one time. I made I don't know
how many of those wooden ribs. The 2-cyl Diesel by Zoche would have
been absolutely perfect. However, the guy just kept showing up at
airshows for years and I don't know if he's turned out a production
model yet (it's been some years since I last checked). No real focus
for me now. I love airplanes very much. I just have little interest in
flying them. No love of flying. All my passion is for the little paper
sacks in the seatback pocket.
