[Vwdiesel] Re: Emergency Fuel

I have established a steady supply of canola oil (used) that is clean enough
to filter and burn. The supplier (chip shop) is pleased to get rid of it,
and decants it directly from the fryer into 4 gall. pails on my
instructions, so no water to fight with. We have a hand shake agreement, he
keeps the oil clean, I make it go away. If I can train a few more
"suppliers", I'll have more fuel than I can use. Time to adapt a home
heating furnace.

Running about 50/50 in the A2 jetta right now. Second tank is here, heated
lines, etc under construction The 2 way 6 port valve is on the way.

Like Hagar, 70+, I try to guard my health carefully, so I can drive out the
remaining years smiling at the stranded SUV's when the gas gets scarce
and/or too expensive to buy.

It does stink a bit and some people catch on and ask about it, but I'm not
advertising what I'm doing, everyone may want to get a piece of the action
when times get tough. I'm collecting a few A2's, and should get another A3
before they get rusty. I only hope it's good for the farmers when it gets
rolling, but I suspect the oil barons will grab control of the farms like
monsanto has grabbed the canola seed monopoly.

Could they have seen this comming???

Every year since Y2K, I have filled a drum with road diesel in the early
fall when prices seem stable to low.
Usually in January, in the north-east, the price spikes along with heating
oil. That's when I use it.

Survival in the near-arctic here in Ontario east, is a little tougher than
where Hagar lives, or Texas/arizona/kalifornia. I have to work at it.

Sandy
