[Vwdiesel] Thermostats for beginners. ( Jeff Rakus needs help )

I have a question. The thermostat the guy at the parts gave me was a "Federated" brand 180 degrees- 
I suppose that 's farenhite I hope! It was made in the USA but I don't want to put it in unless I know it's a 
good one - I've seen too many stories about bad thermostat's wrecking things. The water pump is from 
Brazil and the date on it is 1995! It's clean and shiny but yet again will I have worries in the future? I would hate to get things put back together and Oy have to take it apart again.

I am not a good writer , so I hope Loren or Val Christian or someone who knows all these different
brands better than me.  I am a chickenshit --so I stick to VW parts.    Had a lot of
grief with jobbers parts.  --
