I just have to know more abut this "Mysterious" JAKE. 

I get these visions of an old Super Mechanic  ---like a NASCAR or Reno air 
races or something.


  Actually not even close!  ;-D  He was one of us "originals" from the 
Kirby list days.  Jake's about 15 years my junior and was a college 
student living at home then.  He "contracted" with Microsoft in the 
summer so he had a bit of time AND a little money to spare.  He 
had a tendancy to get almost anal on things he set his mind to 
so he did careful note taking, testing and so forth.  I tend to go 
more on the seat of my pants.  It's quicker and time is what I 
tend to get short of as well as money.  He read a LOT on whatever 
he happened to be delving into and we debated a lot of issues.  
Haven't seen him in about two years, talked to him last winter 
once.  We're both just short on time so he's not on the list anymore, 
that I know of.  
  There are no archives that I know of from the Kirby list or the next 
two evolutions of it.  I think some members have personal archives 
from back then though.  I know some of my words come back to 
"haunt" through this screen occasionally!  ;-)
