  What you're talking about is called a pilot bearing.  The Van experts
here 
will have to answer if it has one.  Some cars have needle bearings and a

seal, some have bronze bushings and some have nothing.  It depends on 
what the transmission requires as to what the end of the crank has and 
as to how much "slop" there is when the tranny is out.  
  You can call it a transmission, gearbox, transaxle (which is
closest)... 
The diff is really just a part of the transaxle in this case.  It's what

takes 
the output from the transmission and gears it down to the axles in
what's 
also called the final drive.
  Gear box is an older term or perhaps a bit more UK?  It's an accurate 
description.  :)
  Fender is the two things over the front wheels, inner fender sees the 
engine,
quarter panel is basically the rear fenders but attached to the main
body 
other 
than by bolts.  Wheel arch is pretty obvious.  "A" pillar is between the

windshield and front door, "B" pillar is behind the front door, wiht the

latch on 
it.  "C" pillar is ahead of the rear glass and leads to the rear quarter

panel.
  I hope you actually know what a bumper is.  :)  Wing...  UK for
fender?  
Bonnet is UK for a hood.  Engine is that lumpy thing with all the belts 
and hoses.  ;-)
  I'm sure Mark will correct any of my blunders in the UK wording.  :)
