[Vwdiesel] My car's smoke/oil use

Hey all,

Thanks for all the detailed responses. Sorry it took me so long to respond--I was out of town for the past week unable to check email. 

So, reading what you have written, it is looking unclear again. Seems it could be a fuel or oil problem? I did Diesel Purge the injector pump, and the nozzles are new Hagar--had the injectors rebuilt and tested to proper spec, set to the right pressure, etc. 

I am gonna have to take a couple hours tomorrow evening and go through and read all the Hillbilly Tuning and smoke and pump-related posts, see if I can learn something. Try to figure out where to start. In the meantime I have to bypass the busted heater core. I'm running about a quart of ATF in the crankcase now, we'll see if that takes care of some of the crud in the motor. It burns a LOT, like it moved from the "A" in "add" on the dipstick to the downward-pointing arrow in 25 miles!!! That must be close to 1 qt per 100-200 miles. Very bad.

I will have to precisely measure fuel and oil use and see if anything can be learned. I will take all of your posts into account and do some work, and I'll get back here with news as soon as there is any.
