Testing that old Rabbit pump really is easy ---- if you understand how they work.
Cold start way is very simple ---- we go by feel --yes Feel.
Remove cable from arm ---- then feel the action of the lever. With engine stopped get
a good feel for pressure needed to move cam. Yes I know in my guts that
Mark Shepherd is going to suggest the use of a fish scale. --I use one for all
kinds of things like setting preload on big differential's. On the pinion.
Your fingers will do.
Then you start engine and do it again. If pressure remains much the same ---?
The pump is worn. If pressure get a lot less the pump is probably ok. On a really
good pump running there will not be any resistance except friction from O ring.
Hagar.
PS It was done here and it worked.
