[Vwdiesel] Hydraulic clutch

If there's air in the clutch hydraulic lines, it won't completely
disengage,
making it difficult to shift the tranny when the engine is running, but
will
shift fine with engine off.
Chatter could be a little crud left on plates and will lessen, then stop
as
it burns off the surface.

Hagar - how's my wrapping??

Sometimes a little slipping on purpose wears them in so they don't
shudder/chatter. Also check for any bad rubber motor or transmission
mounts, maybe try bleeding the clutch as well? Although a little
air could act as a dampener, it could also make for bounce on the
slave cylinder.
