[Vwdiesel] Injection pump discussion --( the piston to camplate shim ).

Will you ever need to worry about that shim ?   ----NEVER   ---so why
discuss it ? you may ask.?

As a pump gang member it is part of mastering and FULLY understanding
how these beauties work.

It is my hope to involve the members like Gavrik Peterson,Doyt Echelberger .Loren,
James Hansen ,Scott Kair,Sandy Cameron,Gary Bangs,William A Thomson,
if I did not mention you ----dementia ---sorry.( yes Mark Shepherd you are in like flint).

William A Thomson  may very well have the ONLY shim that ever broke. ---
then a replacement is in order ----if a shim rolls on the floor the Moscovie eats it
and takes off   ---you need a new one.

I have 3 questions  --------    " 1 .    How do we know the optimum shim ?

# 2 .  What effect does reducing thicknes have ?      # 3.  What effect does using a thicker ?
shim have.?

William A Thomson    I would have shipped the 103 thou shim had I not been in
sick bay.    BUT not to dispair it can still be done.

IMHO     Hillbilly   TUNING wil do the compensation.    More on this later.

IMHO    the alignment of ports in piston and distributer block lenthtwise,
 is the issue. ---------BUT we want a discussion going  so lets hear from you
gang.

I wish every one of you could have been a passenger in Bunny Bondo yeasterday
to really appreciate what a 20 year old Rabbit turbo sounds and feels like at
78 miles to a gallon Imp .    What smoooothness of engine    what handling     
all I can say is WOW  ----I still have no spellchecker.    But thank you to
the member who posted  a word a day. It is on my favorites and I learn a word every day..
And it too has an archive. 

And by the way after you guys got me to put that extra 400 cc of oil in the 
manual 5 speed ?    ---- she sounds way better in 5.
