I would guess that there isn't enough lubricant in the JP8 to keep
the pump and injectors lubed. Correct? Just a thought.
Nick
Nick and All : As luck has it I met a LOT of Jetters and Mikkenics at
the waterings holes all over the place. And one thing that I got right ? is listening to
eperience.
For some reason booze and Tabacci was NOT taxed at some of those places.
Go figger.?.
So when I had to study for my Urine Exams --- what better place than Comox Airbase BC.?.
That is how I learned about all kinds of things ----and JET-FUEL.
I go right back to the beginning of Jets-(Me 262)---- Jet-A1 and before. so JP-8 ? .
I do not have the specks. BUT all Turbine fuels are A-OK in Rabbits if you take
care and do some rudimentary testing.
Now lets look at the situation in details --- do I want to go across the ICY Atlantic for
Christmass in Denmark ----? without knowing that the watertraps were really drained ?
So when I see a lot of VW and MB and Volvo diesels in the parking lot ? I feel
a lot safer. Right Gary Bangs ? ----yes sir she was drained and at home you
can separate water no problemo ----run it through a blotter paper and water will
not go through.
If the crew chief shows up in a Rabbit ? I feel safe there are going to be no Flameouts due to
Water.in fuel.
But back to lubrication --? right . If you use Jet fuel use lots of lubricant. for Pump and
injectors. -----too much is NEVER a problem.
I use at least a Quart IMP to a tank of fuel AD-100 Esso. or a handful of
ParoWax (best and cheapest) ------- Diesels and Parrafffin are happy travelers.
Ad any good parrafin Wax or oil will do. Aircraft Piston engine oils are the simplest to
use. And they are the best Parraffinic crude,. Very cost effective for Rabbits.
Warning Rabbits : DO NOT use alcohol to get rid of water in fuel. Use Silica Gel chrystals
if you must . They will blow your socks of ----they will dry that fuel like nothing
you ever saw. -------- I know from first hand experience.
I froze som fuel one time and then filtered ----------yeah the ice and water does get removed.
Not practical on a small scale.
There are many ways of lubricating Bosch VE pumps and Injectors.
Number 1 . The LOREN way 2 cycle oils. a-OK-. Number 2 Stanadyne lube A-OK.
BUT lubricate you must. The Hagar way ? Canola oil ParoWax Aircraft piston engine
lube oil. ----- and yes at times I use 2 cycle oil. (when I get it free).
Look in archives I spendt a lot of time writing about fuels ---and testing of Fuels
for Rabbits.. All first hand experience.
Lubrication first then Cetane numbers.-----get those in the basket for your Rabbit
for Christmass and you will have a HAPPY Rabbit.
I am rambling again so I must go do something else.
Hagar.
PS : get that cetane number up to 45 or better. (kerosene is ok).and Canola is 45 or better.
Shell Oil brags about cetane 40. ? not too good since my Kubota say minimum 45.?.
And by the way you Comox guys --thanks for repacking my chute for free..
And yes I did jump at Comox. Nuke dogs and all. LOL.
