	You need to have enough power to excite the field.  Practically
	this is 9 to 10 volts in the system.  So a low battery will 
	often have enough, but no battery will simply not work.

	Often, if you jump the car, and your altenator starts getting 
	the battery charging, you can remove the jumpers, and the 
	system will continue to run, charging the battery, and 
	serving the load on the car.

	I too like a smooth surface, and extra troweling can help to smooth
	it.  I sealed mine after it had a chance to cure.  It was poured
	in Nov, and I sealed it the following April, once it got warm and
	dry.  

	The downside of smooth troweling and sealing is that it will 
	be like an ice rink with just a little snow on it.  You might
	consider a walkway with grit laden epoxy paint.  That was the
	approach we used at the hangar at work.  

	A smooth, sealed concrete floor cleans up real nice, and 
	is much nicer to do car work on than a broomed garage floor.
	Have fun.  But you will have to trowel with a power trowler
	when the concrete is fresh.  I had a mason do mine.  He mentioned
	that it was possible to over trowel a floor.
