  I think it's Turbo, Direce Injection

  Model name.  It was sold as the Eco diesel.  Turbo but no boost 
enrichment and a Cat.  (Catalytic converter)  Short for ECOlogical or such.
Don't see much of them anymore but Rabbit's came in "C" (custom, which 
was a nice way of saying the base model) "L" (Luxury, yeah) and LS (Luxury 
Special).
