Seasons Greetings and hello to Loren and all;

On the subject of starting:

When I originally got my Caddy from previous California owner, I noticed he had several bad glow plug relays sitting in glove box. Seems that he had glow plug and relay problems. Upon dissection I found that the relay wiper contacts were basically burned thru. I think the problem maybe was caused by a bad sensor keeping the system on until finally everything burned out. He then gave up resorted to starter fluid! At the time I decided to just wire in a generic Ford starter relay, small pushbutton and Flashing LED on the bus bar. Count flashes---no need timer. Or push the button, wait for seatbelt warning light to go off then start. Then put on seatbelt of course. 3+ years, has been reliable. I mounted the small Pushbutton and LED on an unused switch panel pushout cover.

Now a braking problem:

I have had an intermittent brake problem I should finally address; Seems when engine running that the brake pedal sometimes slowly sinks to the floor when held down and then the brake warning light comes on. Can be pumped back up. This is an 81 pickup. My guess is bad master cylinder----Is something else more likely? Once I had problem with Brake booster diaphram but that just caused hard braking. Changing the plastic flapper, I call it, solved that problem.

Milton.
