The way this circuit would work  (I think) would be for the
LEDs to light  AFTER glowplugs turned off.
A failure to light would mean o/c glowplug. the inline
diodes block cross circuiting to 'working glowplugs.

The warning circuit would be +ve switched supply, LED,
ballast resistor, 1mm wire attached to glowplug,
 through glowplug to engine, earth strap and battery -ve

Mike try removing supply from your mock glow plug but
simulating above circuit then o/c 'glowplug'
Does your test circuit fail because of higher resistance of
light bulb comparedwith 1 ohm of GP?

I've got through about 12 glowplugs on this Quantum ...
All have failed open circuit none have been burnt externally
:-(
1 glow plug restarted after I threw it on the floor :o)
