One big difference I found between the 1.6D in my '81 and the 1.9D in the '82 (both pickups) is that the 1.9D is *so* much
quieter. I think this is mainly due to being able to run a part throttle on the 1.9D. With the 1.6D, I found up to 55 it was
not too bad, but past that and you got into the last part of the throttle travel, where the linkage picks up that last lever,
and that's when it got much louder. With the 1.9D, you are only at 1/3 to 1/2 throttle under most conditions and about all you
hear is the wind and road noise, not much from the engine or exhaust.
I also found a marked MPG vs. MPH relationship. Keep it to 55 or below and I get around 44 MPG, but push 65-70 (or higher) and
MPG drops to 36 or so.
