[Vwdiesel] to turbo or not to turbo- that is the question

I might add that I am the most conservitive driver in the world so =
fuel economy is the main reason to put the turbo on.=20

I can give you first hand information on this ----- On a  Rabbit   you will wind up with
78 miles to a gallon Imp or better.

Injection Pump ?     the NA pump is fine   ---reset the injectors for turbo
and you are done.

The  VW   1.6 L  diesel just loves lots of manifold pressure.   Run her superlean (like me)
and there are other benifits aside from good mileage.   SOOT  loading of
lubeoil will go down like crazy.

No need for squirters or stronger crankshaft or better valves.    If you want
to tow a  Camper up Pikes Peak in summertime ?   yes you need the works.

I was a NO TURBO no how no way   a couple of years ago  ---then one was dropped
in my lap  ----- WOW    ---I shall never go back now.
Loren and Scott Kair and Val Christian    in archives would be a good read.
There is even a member that posted pictures og internals of Turbo. I forget
name but --------- you are at the right place. IMHO.
