Cleaning the pumps : Both the GM V8 Standalone pump and the
Boost VER pump (the ones that I did) has critical parts internally.
Like non metallic parts. If these parts disintegrate or dissolve or swell,
watch out ? . So where do you need to be careful ? with additives that's where.
I have no information that dieselpurge is approved by Bosch. But a simple email
would solve that problem.
I do have problems with a lot of other additives like antifreeze water removers
and especially with ATF --- ATF does have a chemical added for seal swelling.
2 cycle oils contains chemicals for instant mixing with gasoline.
Anyone who has seen the inside of a VE pump ----instantly knows why pump
may need cleaning. Use nutcase cleanliness when removing and installing banjos.
Pouring dieselpurge directly to top up pump for priming ? I would do it.
After several years of fooling around with VE pumps , it my opinion that most of you
fellas are capable of doing anything that I have done If you go slow and read
a lot in archives. When I was quoted 5000 dollars from Capilano VW dealer
for a pump for my 1982 1.6L NA Rabbit ----I suddenly started reading a lot.
Gary Gbangs here sent me an email that stopped me from buying a new pump.
(Thanks again Gary ) he is knows as the Adm. Rickover kid to me.
He came up for air just at the right time.
Cleaning the screen in the "OUT" banjo is fairly simple. Soak in purge over
night. Then blow clean with air --- both ways.
If yor pump has sat for a whyle take an oilcan to the front seal behind the sprocket.
There I might be tempted to use ATF. --- Am I rambling ??? ok have fun.
