[Vwdiesel] Slightly OT: 95 Golf CL-good? bad?

I'm also looking at a 1995 Golf CL 4 door.
I couldn't find a sticker for the gas engine. Would it be a 1.8L or a 2L?
Are they good on gas?
Car has 188k kms on it (116k miles)
Seller looking for $4900CDN/3675US which from what I can tell, is about the
going rate in NB.

Also , what is the "CL" part? Ie: is it the bottom of the ladder from GTI,
GL, etc?

And, if anyone has a real nice Jetta or Golf they'd like to swap for a 94
