[Vwdiesel] Blotter testing --- of lube oils ( use printer paper )

I promised long time ago to report back when I knew for sure
if printer paper could be used in place of real blotter paper.
Well here it is --- :   Printer paper is harder to use , but it gives
a far superior pattern..    The rings are more defined and can be easily
understood by anyone.When the outer ring (the clear one) disappears
the oilchange is getting closer.
For those of you who just heard about blotter tests , this has to do with
finding a substitute for blotterpaper test kits. And we found it , use jetprinter
paper. One drop and keep flat till dry. Mine can be handled in about a week.

If you are a 60 000mile or more changer and you have an older VW , this test 
will impress you for sure. Take regular samples right from the first day , and
you will soon understand why I rant about it.

Also I would like to hear from someone who sent samples of oil to a lab
for testing.  Was it worth the money ????.    I drive a 1984 Turbo Rabbit but
I never got to change at 60 000 miles because it also sez 48 months.
A lot of the older models say 8 month or 10 000 miles.

Oilchange is only about 5 dollars Canadian around here. So where is the saving?
by stretching the oil ?.  0.008 cents per mile ?.

PS:  Definition of a "Tobys ass"  -- it is a spot solidly black with no rings and a
sharply defined outer edge. Usually found on a VW just bought from a PO who said
oil was changed regularly etc. PO memory has a distortion built in --- like brakes were
"JUST" done or Engine was "JUST" overhauled.
