[Vwdiesel] TDI seat question

I have an '00 GLS with the nifty folding seats. I tend to leave them
folded down a lot as I travel alone and I'm short enough to use the
opened-up back as "The Fahrverneugen Inn". Problem came in recently
when I tried to fold the seats back up. The middle seat belt has locked
in its tensioner. I can just barely get the seat up and locked.
Needless to say, I can't use that seatbelt as it's crushed into the
upholstery and won't let go. I've tried to fold it back up to get some
slack and no dice. The owner's manual talks about how the seat must be
locked upright to let the belt go, but it's too hard against the
tensioner. Anyone know how to get it out, or get the seat out, or
something? Anything?

As an aside, the moral of the story would apparently be: pull out the
belt some and clip it there if you're going to fold the seat up.
