[Vwdiesel] Jeep/ Renault diesel

Hi all sorry for the non-VW but a diesel is a diesel! A neighbor has a Jeep truck with the Renault turbo diesel with a broken timing belt- any ideas about whether the motor is a good unit, timing belt problems re: pistons and valves, etc? The truck has about 110K on it. This was not a common item and robably for good reason, alwasys interesting..... Thanks,... Dan.
