[Vwdiesel] Braking -- engine etc. ( injection pump as a brake ? )

On models from 1990, the return fuel passes through a small thermostatic
widget on top of the filter that diverts some of the warm fuel through the
filter when it's cold, to prevent wax plugging of the filter element.
Has anybody stumbles across a stand alone version of this? I have a
Compucruise® that I want to eventually put on the Rabbit. Thing is due
to design, I either have to build a stand alone add-subtract plus find/make
a second fuel sensor or put the fuel into a closed ended loop for metering.
In doing this I'd need to put a small "oil cooler" into the circuit, which
would
need a thermobypass valve. Unless someone knows where to pick up a
flow meter? I think it's simply an on/off thing. I have an EE friend who
could probably design a circuit for me.
