Lee and all of you --- this issue was a real , get them brains
to the fore. I for one learned a hell of a lot. And to Mark Shepherd
I think you are right. My landrover going down countless mountains
in bull low wore the butterfly pivots oval.
If someone claims that a gasser is a better brake --- No argument from me
only a question . WHY ?. We shall find out. Rabbit gasser to Rabbit
diesel on the hill,Both with fuel off.
Val has a calibrated hill and so do I so when spring arrives ---- we head
for the hills.
Loren said that some Mercedes diesels have a butterfly valve (news to me)
so if we find out why --- it may give the answer. Loren what operated your
Mercedes butterfly ? I remember your dads Mercedes for its infected fuel
tank.
The alternator can be used as a 1 hp brake for those of us who face long
hills. say a 0.25 Ohm 1000W resistor using a contactor for control.
I had that kind of setup on a Landrover 3/4 Ton --- power routed to a big
Nicad in the back. One big hill and there was power for the outboard
and camping for the night.Loved that electric outboard. Hagar.
PS: In BC a trip down the mountain in bull low could easy take an hour or so.
2.25L gasser --- load about 5 tons. total (trailer).
