[Vwdiesel] Block Heater Watts?

Hey Guys

Just wondering how much the average block heater uses on a 92 Jetta TD in
Watts??

Reason I ask is that I live in an apart block with no parking in montreal
and have the "luxury" of parking in the streets with no plugs therefore no
block heaters. If, in the worst case scenario I had to start the car when it
was really cold, I could run the block heater off an AC/DC convertor from
another car. Boosting at -30C doesnt help much.

Anyone done this...or have any better ideas.

Lately it has been between -20 and -35C here.....I only start my car at -15C
or above.
