I got my turbo pump back today from the Bosch rebuilder - $487! Lots
of money but she purrs like a kitten now...well not really but runs
perfectly smooth with no rocking or jerking. I am still producing a
bit of smoke so I am going to check the valve clearances again before
she goes on the road permanent. I also need to change out the vacuum
pump as a short test drive down the road showed no vacuum for the
brakes at all. I have another one standing by. I also managed to fix
my oil leak. Loren was right on target. When I pulled off the
intermediate shaft pulley and the cover, I discovered that it had the
original hard, and I mean very hard, shaft seal in place and NO O
RING!! Replaced the seal and O ring and now no oil leak. I intend to
go by and get my insurance card tomorrow so I can get it licensed and
inspected. Oh first got to get it aligned. I really appreciate all of
the help many of you have given on this project. I hope to have pics
on my web page by the weekend. Hayden
