Try to get a Swede to say Jumper ---- and you will know what I mean.

They weld super carriers with that size cable .  TOO big for us.

I am talking about # 4  copper  (mine)  but for minus 40  I would use
# 2   or #  1..

Here is a little about the problems.   At forty below  a thousand amps
is not crazy.    So lets say 500 amps and figger the voltage drops on
the cable.    # 4   My yumper is 32 feet long.(16 x 2)      0.25 ohms pr 1000 feet
(77F)  .   That looks like 4 four volt drop at 500 Amps.    Too much drop 
at 40 below.   2 volts at 250   --- not good. We need  #  1 cable.

At least use Parrot beak clamps ( 500Amps)   The VW wire from battery to
starter needs to be increased. Double up.
