[Vwdiesel] Off topic, Mercedes 240 Diesel

The 240 and the 300 share the same chassis, namely w123. The 240 indeed
only had 4 cylinders. The diesel was 2.4 liter and no turbo. Coupled
with an automatic and you had acceleration measured in minutes(vs
seconds)

The 240 was the economy version of the 300. This body style was produced
up to 1985.

In 1984 the 190 was introduced as the w201 body style. The 300 was later
re-introduced in 1986 as the w124 body style. The 190 was kind of
testbed to the 300. Many design elements carried over. Besides a more
aerodynamic shell, the front suspension was redesigned using macpherson
struts(from double control arm), and the rear became fully independent
(from a solid axle). They also shared similar engines.
