[Vwdiesel] Injection pump talks --- ( help needed )

A senior member asked me a GOOD question.

Why would a Rabbit take off , with no regard to pedal position -- if idle is set
too high ?.

He pointed out that the idle screw does not do anything different than ---
putting your foot on the pedal does ..----He is right.

Here is my answer :     This has to do with the fact that the governor is a
maximum --minimum RPM  governor.

At the low end it governs idle RPM at the high end it governs maximum RPM.
In between it is unstable --- 

All the pumps here are unstable above  high idle. So are my pumps faulty ? or is
it normal for the VE pumps ?--I say it is normal.

Here is how you can help :   Parked slowly push on pedal ------then see if you
get to a point where RPM runs away of pedal position.  If it does let us know.

So how does it work in the unstable zone ?   Engine try to speed up --but is held in
check by LOAD.-------- bingo things work.
