I've always used a one-person vacuum pump/bleeder.  I guess that is one
advantage of the vacuum pump over the pressure bleeder.  I also
bleed/flush mine about once every year or two, I pull 4-8 oz. of fluid
out of each nipple (taking care not to empty the reservoir) and after
you finish them all, you'll run 1pt. to 1 qt. of fluid through the
system.
