[Vwdiesel] Engine out, time for a bath...

The engine that is...

I got my TD engine/trans out of the Jetta tonight, no big surprises with the
help of neighbour's hoist. I can't believe I actually considering doing it with a
floor jack for a while - I'd probably be in the hospital now if I did. Any idea how
much these things weigh? Turning it on my new engine stand is quite a
chore.

btw, keep those old head bolts - they make perfect bolts for mounting the
engine to a stand, as the extra length is needed. I used a 1/2" socket as a
spacer on one and it works great.

I dumped the oil, and then decided to dump the diesel in the fuel filter through
the engine, figured it can't hurt to flush a bit more crud out. Next up, I think I'll
borrow a pressure washer and get the rest of the crud off the outside - the
back is about 1/4" thick in places.

It appears I will need the special socket (12pt?) for the turbo to exh manifold
bolts, or is there something else I can use? Any other special tools I will need
for a complete teardown of this engine? I have the head bolt socket. I'm
assuming I'll need something to ream the cylinder ridges?
