[Vwdiesel] vacuum pump

hi all.
how much' in out play' should there be in the main shaft of the vacuum pump? (81)
what other signs of extreme wear should i look for?
((could be a reality show for seniors 'X-TREME WEAR ' 
 this episode..lower backs of retired mechanics!!!!!))

the one i just put a new diaphragm in is leaking oil
(probably my error)
from diaphragm cover(part you separate )
so i now have a couple spare pumps and 
want to re-rebuild the best one.
