YES YES ---YES.    worth every penny.

  What is the actual difference between
the two types of pumps (107 and 109)?


I hagar have two pumps at my feet a 107 and a 109 -----actual difference is next
to nothing. Even the cam plates are the same.  BUT I found that the 109 piston
is slightly bigger diameter. (more max fuel).

It is my hope that you will become a Hillbilly Tuner ,  that requires a good
understanding of BASICS ----   you need the book.

Roger Brown did post very valuable information from day one. (I got started that way)
and Scott Kair posted a link that explains why fuel killed so many pumps.

No greater challenge to be found on a Rabbit than the VE pumps. And in the
end great reward.

I keep close track of who is fooling with pumps here and the number is growing.

By chance I found the answer to a tricky question.   Q.: what is the maximum
RPM for a VE pump before it fails ----say using the engine as a brake ----down jackass mountain.
The flyweights turn at slightly less than engine speed so there is a limit.

When my first Rabbit took of like mad on crankcase oil -- I found the answer to
be in excess of 10 to 15 thousand RPM with no damage.

What fired my boiler to start with ?  the pump on 1982 1.6L NA Rabbit crapped out.
Phoned stealership Capilano and was quoted 5000 dollars Canadian for a pump.

Damned hard not to admire that pump , if you see what is inside.   That it works
like it does is incredible. ----millisecond squirts at the right time ? -----when the goal
post moves all the time ? ---fantastic.
