[Vwdiesel] Pump Timing Ramblings

At this point the Rabbit has 500 miles on it and appears to be free of
any major problems. It is a big relief to find that my fuel pump is
in ok shape.

That fuel pump with the number '068 130 109'. Hagar identified it as
a turbo type pump. It is my understanding that this is the original
pump on this NA engine (84'). Did VW sometimes supply a turbo type
pump on NA engines?

I expected a new engine to sound different -- more sharp diesel noise.
Will this happen later when the rings seat more completely? Or, is it
that the timing needs to be advanced a little?

Not yet through the first tank, but it looks like I am getting good
mileage.

The original sticker gives 0.92mm for the pump timing. I suppose that
this is because it is the ...109 type pump -- the more usual timing
being 0.95mm. Should I mess with the timing?
