Ok I'll come clean... What I said was a direct quote from a book dated 1951 Caxton's 'High speed Oil Engines' by  Mr Chapman...not that the date should put you off these books predate Bosche's 'secret service' ;o)
If you read carefully you'll all see that it stated 'a sodium salt' ..not neccessarily our Na Cl.. and most certainly not metallic sodium :o)
