How come I have so much time to spend here ??? Answer : I am on my
last few laps and I live way up north as a hermit.

Why do I bring up the cam sprocket ? do I have problems ? NO.

But looking in archives the cam timing problem has been a very costly issue
to some people. Example : a member has engine troubles on a trip. When
VC was removed ---- cam was found to be in three pieces. Many a bent valve and danged
up piston tells me this is important.

My guess as to the why of the keyway ? --- somewhere it was keyed to a gear
on a different application. I am so curious , I intend to ask Volkswagen.

Here is where I must confess . Today is the first time I read Bentley instructions.
Thank you James Hansen you made me do it.
Changing a timing belt was so simple that I saw no need to read. (stupid).

.
Today I check the two Rabbits in front ---to make sure both cam bolts are tight,
Mark Shepherd tight. Probably 45 foot pounds. ( Mark ? )

Slightly paranoid Hagar.

PS: On the 1882 I put the 19 mm socket and torque wrench pulled it
up way beyond 45 foot pounds and nothing moved. A OK.
